Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany. In her early life, she and her family fled Germany due to the rise of the Nazis, going to the Netherlands. The Nazis later invaded the Netherlands, and Anne went into hiding with her family two years later. During her time in the Annex, she decided that she wanted to pursue writing as a career and publish a novel based off of her diary. The inhabitants of the Annex were arrested in 1944 and were sent to Auschwitz. Anne survived and was deported to Bergen-Belsen, where she died of typhus.
