Fritz was born in Giessen, Germany. He studied to be a dentist and soon opened up his own dental practice. In 1926, he married Vera Bythiner and had a son named Werner on April 3, 1927. After his divorce in 1933, he retained custody of his son. He met and began a relationship with Charlotte Kaletta, but they were unable to marry due to laws preventing Jews from marrying non-Jews. The two moved to the Netherlands in 1938 after Kristallnacht, but still were not allowed to marry. In December of this year, Fritz sent Werner to live in England with his uncle. He joined the others in the Annex on November 16, 1942. During this time, Miep Gies would carry letters between Fritz and Charlotte. After being arrested, he survived the selection at Auschwitz but died several months later in Neuengamme.
